Arthur Tuda has 25 years of experience in fisheries, marine spatial planning, coastal management, and policy. He managed marine protected areas, has led national ecosystem and landscape conservation planning in Kenya and the Western Indian Ocean for over 20 years. Arthur has helped shape Western Indian Ocean conservation policy on transboundary marine conservation, protected area management, and conservation capacity. He received an MPA Professional certification for his marine conservation leadership and numerous awards. He is currently the Executive Director of the Western Indian Ocean Science Marine Science (WIOMSA). His marine conservation and governance research has advanced human dimensions of marine conservation. Arthur holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc in marine and coastal management and fisheries.
